Macro Sea team members have backgrounds in real estate, development and investment, project finance, architecture, design, project and consulting management, and scheduling.
David Belt, Executive Director and Founder
David Belt is the founder and Executive Director of Macro Sea, and has become increasingly interested in transforming junk spaces and objects into fully utilized places of recreation and culture. He conceives each project’s concept and vision and oversees each project’s design and implementation.
David is also a real estate developer and the Managing Principal of DBI, a project management firm. He has developed and managed projects in the US, Italy, France, Spain, and the United Kingdom.
David is currently working on the Macro Sea Oracle and 3rd Ward Philadelphia.
Jocko Weyland, Project Consultant
Jocko Weyland is a Project Consultant to Macro Sea. Jocko collaborates on select projects and promotes Macro Sea's vision and direction.
Prior to joining Macro Sea, Jocko wrote The Answer is Never – A Skateboarder's History of the World (Grove Press, 2002) and has written for Thrasher, The New York Times, Cabinet and other publications. He is the creator of Elk magazine, books and gallery, and his artwork has been exhibited at KS Art and Franklin Parrasch Gallery in New York, and the Museum of Contemporary Art in Tucson.
Jocko was active in realizing the Mobile Dumpster Pools and Glassphemy! and is currently leading the charge on the Found Object Skatepark in Detroit.
Alix Feinkind, Senior Project Manager
Alix Feinkind is a Senior Project Manager at Macro Sea. She was involved in the design of Macro Sea’s Glassphemy! and the associated recycled glass products. She also helped oversee the design and construction of the mobile dumpster pools and worked with David Belt and Jocko Weyland on the Found Object Skatepark in Detroit.
Rebecca Birmingham, Senior Project Manager
Rebecca Birmingham is a Senior Project Manager at Macro Sea. Rebecca oversees logistics on various projects from the concept phase to realization.
Prior to joining Macro Sea, Rebecca worked in the Department of Music & Performing Arts at New York University as a Facilities Coordinator. She is currently working towards her law degree at Brooklyn Law School while moonlighting as a DJ.
Rebecca was part of the team that implemented Glassphemy! and the 2010 Mobile Pools and is now working on the Macro Sea Oracle.
Elise DeChard, Project Designer
Elise DeChard is Project Designer at Macro Sea. She works with the Macro Sea team on the design of each project, produces drawings and visualization, and oversees projects through construction.
Elise graduated from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute with a degree in Architecture. She has always been interested in the possibilities inherent in urban voids, and investigated them through her architectural thesis Residual Library: Exploration and Documentation of History through Decay. Prior to joining Macro Sea, she worked at a small architectural firm on residential and educational buildings.
Elise worked is currently developing the Macro Sea Oracle and 3rd Ward Philadelphia.
